Robert Arnold’s YMCA Success Story
In 1997, Mr. Arnold was 250+ pounds, had a 44” waist and realized he had no energy.
He missed work at least one week every year due to sickness.
One day in December he and his wife were out driving and saw a sign for the YMCA.
He told his wife he wouldn’t live to age 50 if he didn’t find a way to better
his health. So they stopped in and took a tour. He wanted a chance to think about
it. He got in his car and backed out of the parking space and then stopped. He
told himself if he didn’t join now, he might not ever join. So he parked his
car again and went back inside and bought a family membership and started working
out that very day.
After 11 months on the treadmill he could walk a 10 minute mile. Today he feels
great, weighs 195, has a 36” waist and now walks 15 miles on YMCA treadmills.
He’s missed only 2 days work in the 9 years he’s been a member, he says the YMCA
staff is terrific and he’s been hooked on the Y ever since.
