Operation Save A Life

Since 2009, the Pickens County YMCA has been focusing on reducing the drowning rate in Pickens County and Northern Anderson County.  Our goal has been to teach as many children as we can to swim, as well as basic water safety.

In 2012, we taught 609 children to swim at the Easley and Pickens YMCA; of which 219 children were taught for free.  The local schools refer need based children in the 2nd and 3rd grade to the Y and we teach them water safety and swimming basics at no cost to them.

This initiative is funded by the Share the Spirit Fund.
