Early Learning at the Brotherton Child Development Center
Welcome to the Brotherton Child Development Center! The Brotherton CDC is our YMCA’s first licensed early learning center and we are so excited to begin serving young children and families in the fall of 2025.
We believe that early learning happens through connection and discovery. Our program and curriculum are built to enhance that development through positive connections with others, curiosity and play.
Our goal is to provide safe, loving, quality care to children while they are with us and also provide support, education, and community to children’s families. Every child’s family receives a full YMCA membership so long as they are enrolled with the CDC.
We also believe that a personal relationship with Jesus Christ is the source of salvation and life. Our desire is that every child will understand that they are a part of a much larger mission as a part of God’s kingdom.

The YMCA of Easley, Pickens and Powdersville is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization that reinvests back into the programs it offers to the community. Through the generosity of our many supporters and active fundraising, the YMCA can offer affordable programs and services designed to benefit people of all income levels. The YMCA works with single parents and families in challenging situations to provide assistance when needed. We will try to work with each family individually to create a plan that supports their need for quality childcare.
Families who want to apply for financial assistance must first register at the link below by clicking on the “Ready to Enroll” button. After registering you will receive a confirmation email that will contain the link to the financial assistance application. Please complete the application, including uploading required tax documentation, in order for your application to be processed. Families receiving financial assistance will renew their application every 12 months or when there is a change in the family’s situation. When we become eligible to accept ABC vouchers, families who qualify must begin using vouchers instead of financial assistance.

Learning Through Play
We believe children learn best through play. Our early learning programs are designed to spark curiosity, creativity, and confidence. We create hands-on experiences that help kids build critical thinking skills, social-emotional growth, and a lifelong love of learning.

Holistic Approach
The mission of the Brotherton CDC is to provide supportive, nurturing care in a Christ-centered environment that enriches the development of the whole child, in spirit, mind, and body, and helps to provide a foundation for the entire family.

Access For All
Everyone belongs at the Y. We believe in helping parents give children the best start possible. Our scholarship fund provides the opportunity for all families to experience the benefits of early learning, regardless of their financial situation.

A Message from Cheryl Banks
My name is Cheryl Banks, and I’m honored to serve as the Director of the new Brotherton Child Development Center, opening later this fall in the newly renovated original Easley YMCA building. I’ve been blessed with a lifetime of experiences that have led me here, including working in military childcare in Germany, as well as at Easley First Baptist CDC and Geer Memorial CDC. I’m also a proud mom to my 19-year-old son, Jason. At the Brotherton CDC, our mission is to care for children while also creating a strong network of support for the entire family. We believe in nurturing the whole child; spirit, mind, and body, with the love of Jesus and the values of the YMCA at the heart of all we do. I’m excited to serve the families of Pickens County in this next chapter. I look forward to meeting you soon and walking alongside you in this journey.
