Early Learning at the Brotherton Child Development Center

Welcome to the Brotherton Family Child Development Center! The Brotherton CDC is our YMCA’s first licensed early learning center and we are so excited to begin serving young children and families in the fall of 2025.

We believe that early learning happens through connection and discovery. Our program and curriculum are built to enhance that development through positive connections with others, curiosity and play.

Our goal is to provide safe, loving, quality care to children while they are with us and also provide support, education, and community to children’s families. Every child’s family receives a full YMCA membership so long as they are enrolled with the CDC.

We also believe that a personal relationship with Jesus Christ is the source of salvation and life. Our desire is that every child will understand that they are a part of a much larger mission as a part of God’s kingdom.

Weekly fees will be automatically drafted for the upcoming week.

Please note: Due to federal regulations concerning new licensed centers, we are not able to initially accept ABC vouchers. We will begin participating in the ABC Quality Program once we are eligible. Those who currently qualify for ABC vouchers are encouraged to apply for financial assistance through the YMCA.

The YMCA of Easley, Pickens and Powdersville is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization that reinvests back into the programs it offers to the community. Through the generosity of our many supporters and active fundraising, the YMCA can offer affordable programs and services designed to benefit people of all income levels. The YMCA works with single parents and families in challenging situations to provide assistance when needed. We will try to work with each family individually to create a plan that supports their need for quality childcare.

Families who want to apply for financial assistance must first register at the link below by clicking on the “Ready to Enroll” button. After registering you will receive a confirmation email that will contain the link to the financial assistance application. Please complete the application, including uploading required tax documentation, in order for your application to be processed. Families receiving financial assistance will renew their application every 12 months or when there is a change in the family’s situation. When we become eligible to accept ABC vouchers, families who qualify must begin using vouchers instead of financial assistance.

Learning Through Play

We believe children learn best through play. Our early learning programs are designed to spark curiosity, creativity, and confidence. We create hands-on experiences that help kids build critical thinking skills, social-emotional growth, and a lifelong love of learning.

Holistic Approach

The mission of the Brotherton CDC is to provide supportive, nurturing care in a Christ-centered environment that enriches the development of the whole child, in spirit, mind, and body, and helps to provide a foundation for the entire family.

Access For All

Everyone belongs at the Y. We believe in helping parents give children the best start possible. Our scholarship fund provides the opportunity for all families to experience the benefits of early learning, regardless of their financial situation.

Let's Get This Party Started (How to Enroll)

We’re excited you’re interested in joining our YMCA Child Development Center! Please follow the steps below to begin the enrollment process:

Step 1: Register your Child(ren)

Register your child(ren) by clicking the “Ready to Enroll” button below. Register your child in the appropriate age group based on their age as of 9/2/2025. Children with an expected birth date can be built into the registration system and registered in the infant group. YMCA members receive priority registration. See dates below.

Please Note: This does not guarantee your child a spot, but it does place your child on our registration list. Spots will be offered from the registration list on a first-come, first-served basis. No fees are due until you have been offered and officially accept a spot.

Financial Assistance: If you would like to apply for financial assistance, please complete the application linked in your registration confirmation email.

Step 2: Offer Notifications Sent Every Two Weeks

As we launch the Brotherton Family CDC, our team will review registration submissions every two weeks. We will send out enrollment offers based on teacher and classroom availability. Offers will be sent via the email included in your registration.

Step 3: Accept or Decline Your Offer

If you receive an offer, you will have two weeks to accept or decline it. Parents will be given the opportunity to sign up for tours of the center at specified times during the two weeks. Please note that the center will still be under construction during this time.

Be sure to respond promptly so we can hold your spot or offer it to the next family in line. After two weeks, we will consider the child as declined.

Step 4: Complete Enrollment Packet

Once you accept your offer, you’ll receive an enrollment packet via ProCare to finalize your child’s placement. This includes required forms, health records, and waivers. At this time, your $100 nonrefundable annual registration fee will be processed, and we will begin drafting your $10 per week fee until school begins.

A Message from Cheryl Banks

My name is Cheryl Banks, and I’m honored to serve as the Director of the new Brotherton Child Development Center, opening later this fall in the newly renovated original Easley YMCA building. I’ve been blessed with a lifetime of experiences that have led me here, including working in military childcare in Germany, as well as at Easley First Baptist CDC and Geer Memorial CDC. I’m also a proud mom to my 19-year-old son, Jason. At the Brotherton CDC, our mission is to care for children while also creating a strong network of support for the entire family. We believe in nurturing the whole child; spirit, mind, and body, with the love of Jesus and the values of the YMCA at the heart of all we do. I’m excited to serve the families of Pickens County in this next chapter. I look forward to meeting you soon and walking alongside you in this journey.

FAQ

Do you offer part-time care or drop-in services?

Currently, we offer full-time care only.

Due to federal regulations concerning new licensed centers, we are not able to initially accept ABC vouchers. We will begin participating in the ABC Quality Program once we are eligible. Those who currently qualify for ABC vouchers are encouraged to apply for financial assistance through the YMCA.

Safety is our top priority. We have a secure entry system, regular cleaning protocols, background-checked staff, and follow all state licensing requirements.

Initially, we are only extending offers for a September 2nd start date. If your child has an expected date of birth after September, please reach out to our CDC Director.

At this time, the CDC will only provide morning and afternoon snacks for two-year-old classrooms and above. Parents must provide all meals for younger ages, as well as lunch for two and above.
